  1. Diarrhea is the excessive action of the
  2. bowels so that the feces are fluid or 
  3. semifluid. It is caused by intestinal 
  4. irritants, Diarrhea is the biggest killer of
  5. children in the world. The World Health 
  6. Organization estimates that 4╜ million
  7. children die each year from dehydration as a
  8. result of diarrheal disease in Third World
  9. countries. It can be treated by giving an
  10. accurately measured aqueous solution of salt
  11. and glucose by mouth in large quantities. 
  12. Since most diarrhea is viral in origin, 
  13. antibioticsare ineffective.
